Diabetes Education
Just by attending Camp Hertko Hollow, you will learn! Campers gain a certain camaraderie with other campers who also have diabetes.
It certainly is beneficial to see other kids testing their blood sugars, taking insulin injections, and calculating their diets just like you! It's a normal part of our daily routine at camp. Most of the diabetes counselors and some of the medical staff members also have diabetes. They are available to answer questions anytime during the day or night to provide spontaneous learning. Diabetes Education sessions are also scheduled during the week with a dietitian, nurse or physician.
